How can I search for documents on Yellow Documents?
Go to the YD Explore page and search through all the YD Categories to find relevant documents on your subject, area of interest or expertise. There are 27 different Categories for you to browse through.
Once you have selected your Category of choice you can refine your search by choosing a subcategory which is more specific to what you are looking for.
For example if you search within the Category ‘Food and Drink’ you can refine your search to include ‘Alcoholic beverages’ and then ‘beer’, ‘liquor’ or ‘wine’.
You can view your search results as a list or as thumbnails and each result is accompanied by a screenshot and a short description.
You can also search for documents by ‘document type’. So if you are looking specifically for resumé formats for example you can find a whole list of that type of document on the Yellow Documents website.
Alternatively you can use the Search option at the top of each page to find documents, just enter the keyword of your choice.
How can I search for a specific word or term inside a document?
You search for a specific word or term within a document by using the Ydoc flash player. Once you have brought up the document you are interested in, you will notice a tool bar appears across the top of it. This is the Ydoc flash player toolbar. On the far right of the toolbar there is a Search box - just enter the word or term you want to search the document for and click on the arrow. The Ydoc player will then highlight the results found within the document.
How can I download a document from Yellow Documents?
It is very easy to download a document from Yellow Documents. Once you have brought up the document you are interested in, you will notice a tool bar appears across the top of it. This is the Ydoc flash player toolbar. The fourth icon on the tool bar is a downward facing arrow, hover your mouse over the top of it and you will see that this is the download option. Click on this icon and begin downloading the document onto your PC.
How can I embed a document from Yellow Documents onto my website or blog?
Once you have brought up the document you are interested in, you will notice a tool bar appears across the top of it. This is the Ydoc flash player toolbar. The third icon on the tool bar is a grid, hover your mouse over the top of it and you will see that this is the embed option. Click on this icon and you will be given the URL which corresponds to the document in question. Copy this URL and then paste it into your website or blog as HTML. The document will then be visible on your site.
What else can I do with the documents on Yellow Documents?
There is a lot more you can do with the documents you find on Yellow Documents. You can email the document to a friend. This option is activated by clicking on the envelope icon on the Ydoc toolbar. You can also post the document on your favourite social network like Facebook or Twitter, in the same way. You can also print the documents. Just click on the printer icon on the Ydoc toolbar and print the document or documents you need for future reference. You can also select a section of text from within the document so that you can quote directly from it. The select text icon on the Ydoc toolbar allows you to do this easily.
Can I view the documents in different ways?
Yes. There are several viewing options on Yellow Documents. Using the Ydoc toolbar which appears across the top of your selected document the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth icons are there for you to adjust the way you view the document. The full screen icon allows you to view the icon in full screen. The view modes icon gives you various viewing mode options, including magazine, presentation and paper. The tiles icon allows you to view the various pages of the document at once, arranged in tiles. The rotate icon allows you to rotate the document completely and view it from different angles.
How can I upload a document?
It is very easy to upload a document to Yellow Documents. Start by clicking on the Upload button on the top right hand corner of the Yellow Documents homepage. This will take you to the 'Upload a document' page. Click on the button which says 'Click to choose a file' and browse your computer till you find the document you would like to upload. Click open and the Yellow Documents database will begin uploading the file. Next you will be asked to enter your email address (this is so we can send you a link to your documents) and to make sure you have read the site's Terms and Conditions. Just enter your email and check the appropriate box. Then the YD database begins uploading the file completely – please be patient, it will only take a few seconds. Once it has uploaded you can add a Title and Description to your document. And that’s it! You will receive an email with a link to your document. Yellow Documents supports most common document formats. If you're not sure, try uploading it.
